WORKS GREAT July 20, 2010 Philip J. Kovalenko (Bothell WA USA) I received this on a Friday, hooked it up and found the problem right away. I was able to fix my non starting vehicle with the code provided to me. Otherwise I would have needed a tow, and the repairs I did would have cost me about $700.00 just in labor. I would buy again, and may need to since my friends have been borrowing it!
Good deal July 9, 2010 xrunner86x Good bang for the buck. Feels like a decent quality build, has lots of reading capabilities, and USB updates. Doesn't do EVERYTHING but does plenty for the average ECU and do it yourself repairman.
Works perfectly June 14, 2010 JJ Doe (Dallas, tx) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am a automotive shop manager. We have 50k-75k in scanners..This little one connects to all 96-newer. Gives live data, monitor status, and code description on the screen very quickly. Not a full diagnostic scanner for a professional, but you will spend 3k-9k for one of those. It is perfect for a DIY or just another time saving tool for the professional.
Cool device, may not be full featured but does what I want. April 3, 2010 J. Anderson 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I'm told that the more expensive readers can give you real time readouts and diagnose as you drive but that's not what I need. I wanted to be able to get the code, erase the code, and see if the code came back. Before purchase of this, the check engine light came on and I took the car to the dealer where they promptly charged me $75 to tell me that they erased the code and shouldn't do anything to repair the underlying problem unless it keeps reoccurring. Diagnosing and fixing the evaporative system would be time-consuming and expensive since the code indicates a general problem. Well, a month after the code was erased, it came back again. That's when I decided to buy this code reader (cheaper than the dealer charge) and erase it myself. The code has not recurred now for half a year. This could have been a cold weather problem where a part was frozen or sticking and not a wholesale failure of a component. I don't know but I feel I saved myself big money. Why didn't I just go to an auto parts superstore and use their code reader for free? Well, I live in the middle of nowhere and I didn't want to have to make long trips, and I'm not sure they would have erased the code for me if I did. This is an expensive, well made, and easy to use device.
Does Everything It's Suppossed To March 21, 2010 ds Excellent code reader ... the same one my mechanic uses for quick checks in the parking lot. Nice that it gives English descriptions of the codes ... nothing to look up in a book or on the internet.
