| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description The U280 is great for DIYers. With a U280, you can quickly scan your engine to find trouble codes on electronically controlled systems on your car. Simply connect the scanner using the OBDII diagnostic socket on your Audi, VW, or Skoda, read the trouble code (DTC) shown on U280, and identify and locate the causes of the trouble codes using the user manual which contains a decoder for the DTCs.

Half a Manual June 10, 2010 M. Conway (Massachusetts, USA) The instrument performed as expected and gave me useful results. The manual is in two parts: a list of the diagnostic trouble codes and operating instructions. The code list was useful and seems to correspond to the codes in my Audi service manual. The operating instructions might be appropriate for some instrument but not for the one I received. The instrument behaved completely differently from the description, and I had to map out the menus to figure it out. Once I did that I was OK.
This UIF-U280 VW AUD OBD II Scan Tool , Don't work whit my car. June 1, 2010 Visa I have a complaint about this product, in my case this scan tool don't work on my VW gol 1998, I did everything as it apears on the manual but the scan only shows (no codes). Then i went to the mechanic and he show me that my car has 3 codes..
so my question is , why this scan didn't show that there are 3 codes.
I bought it because is an special scan for VW.
can you tell me why it doesn't work?
and my car is made in brazil.
Good for old VW Passat April 12, 2010 Hanna K (California, USA) Works fine with VW Passat 1999 year model, but doesn't work with VW Passat 2006.
It does what it's supposed to March 8, 2010 Colin Mullins-Zugelder (Columbia, SC USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
The scanner functions well & helps me diagnose & clear codes from my '01 Beetle.
The literature that it came with is insufficient at best. It didn't include all of the codes & the step-by-step instructions didn't match the commands programmed into the machine.
I figured it out & googled the missing codes, but that was a little concerning. The literature reads like it's written by someone who's not a native English speaker.
I would still recommend the product for the price & the ability.
Works with Audi/WV Poor Manual January 21, 2010 Benjamin H. Rice 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I got this to check the codes on my 2005 A4 and 2000 WV Golf. It displays the codes by date and the back of the manual has all their causes.
Unfortunately the manual is completely useless in explaining how to get your codes. When I plugged it in, nothing matched what the manual said I should be seeing. It references buttons that aren't even on the device! After some trial and error I was able to display the codes from my check engine, but no thanks to the instructions.
