| Customer Reviews: Electrician/Car Tech. June 12, 2010 Charles Ervin I'm a electrician by trade, But work on cars on the side. This Equus 3173 help me with a 1993 Toyota check engine panel light by allowing me to retrieve the codes. This code reader saved me $80.00dos because I replaced the vaccm line myself. It is very simple to use and worth I's weight In gold.
Does the job May 7, 2009 Pete Vlagos (usa) It does what I need. Once you get the code just look at the book.
Pricey for what it does! December 27, 2008 Georvar (Durham, NC) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Except for the book it came with explaining some stuff and about different makes & models thus shedding some more light on the issue, the unit itself has nothing much in it as some other reviewer wrote, you could do what it does with a paper clip or a flat blade screwdriver. I agree..
It is a rip-off, you do not need this product for obd1 September 23, 2008 A. Sikdar (San Jose, CA USA) 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
The check engine light came on in my honda 95 delsol, I googled on how to read the code and finally used a piece of small wire to read the code. When I saw this item on Amazon, I thought it would be some kind of electronic code reader, so I bought it, to my surprise the kit had a booklet and couple of jumper connectors. You can find all the information on how to read OBD1 coded just by googling. For honda and toyota vehicles you will need a piece of wire! The material value of this product should not be more than $2.00. I bought it for $25 which is completely rip-off. I felt I was an idiot to buy this product!
SImple tool May 19, 2007 Aaa Travel Money (CT USA) 8 out of 10 found this review helpful
its a simple product to use. I didnt really need it because you and do the same thing this tool does with a paper clip, just stick a paper clip in both sides of the connector and watch the engine light blink. But nice item comes with a great book that shows all the codes and how to read them. A+ for me
